General Grant Information

 

BVCAC has 3 types of grants: SEE POLICIES FOR MORE DETAILS

  1. Local Arts Projects

  2. Advanced Education

  3. Student Scholarships

We do NOT provide funding for:

  1. Capital expenses (fixing a building)

  2. Accommodation expenses (hotel for traveling artists)

  3. Equipment (buying a new guitar, computer, or video camera)

Local Arts Projects

  • Arts Projects that happen in the Bulkley Valley, including artist fees, productions fees, documentation expenses (videographer, etc.)

  • Affordable Recreation (student fees, art supplies, venue rental)

  • CD, DVD creation for local musicians: maximum $500

  • Eligibility requirements: Any BVCAC member is eligible to apply. You may become a member at the same time that you submit an application.

  • Deadline: Grant applications are accepted between September 1st and May 31st (the Board does not meet in the summer months). Please allow for up to 8 weeks for a response to your request. We normally recommend that you apply at least 2 months before your event or artistic idea starts.

  • Funding amounts available: between $100 - $1,500. 

 

Advanced Education and Travel Grant

  • Education (if you want to bring an advanced instructor to the Bulkley Valley, or need to travel to develop your skills)

  • Eligibility requirements: Applicant must be a member of BVCAC. You may become a member at the same time that you submit an application. If you are applying for yourself, you must be a professional practicing artist. If you are applying to bring an educator to the Bulkley Valley, he/she must be a professional practicing artist. See Advanced Education Policy for further details.

  • Deadline: Grant applications are accepted between September 1st and May 31st (the Board does not meet in the summer months). Please allow for up to 8 weeks for a response to your request. We normally recommend that you apply at least 2 months before your event or workshop starts.

  • Funding amounts available: Fixed amounts are available of $500, $750, or $1,000.

 

Scholarship Awards

  • Graduating high school students planning post secondary studies in an arts-related discipline

  • Eligibility requirements: You must be a graduating high school student (or equivalent) planning full time post secondary studies in an arts-related discipline. NOTE: funding is given upon proof of registration in a full time arts or applied arts program (visual arts, dance, music, creative writing, film, graphic design, etc.)

  • Deadline: April 30th (each year)

  • Funding amounts available: Up to $1,500 annually (sometimes shared between multiple recipients)

Timeframe for projects

The intended timeframe of your project must be included in your grant proposal. We understand that sometimes timeframes shift once a project gets underway, however, all projects must be completed within one year of successfully receiving funding. If you need more time, please request an extension from the BVCAC Board of Directors.
